Creating a Schedule Policy for Laptop Backup

When multiple clients require similar operations to be scheduled you can create a schedule policy as a scheduling template and attach it to the clients. Schedule policies give you the flexibility to modify or alter job schedules from one central location. The modifications are automatically reflected in the associated schedules for all clients associated with that schedule policy. For more information about Schedule Policies, see Schedule Policy - Getting Started.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, navigate to and expand Policies.
  2. Right-click Schedule Policies and then click New Schedule Policy.

The New Schedule Policy dialog box appears.

  3. In the Name box, specify the name of the Schedule Policy.
  4. In the Agents Type box, select Files | Protected Files | Windows File System.
  5. Click Add.

The Backup Task Options dialog box appears.

  6. In the Schedule Name box, enter a name of the schedule pattern.
  7. Select Automatic, admin, and then click OK.

The New Schedule Policy dialog box appears.

  8. Recommended: To limit user access to only the backed up files and folders for which they have access permissions, include ACLs in backups. For more information, see Restricting User Access with Access Control Lists (ACLs). (Applies to Windows and Macintosh only.)
  9. Optional: For additional parameters you can configure, see Backup Schedules for Laptop Backup and Network Parameters for Laptop Backup.
  10. Click the Associations tab and select Laptop Clients from the Client Computer Groups list.

If you created a new client group for staging your laptop clients for additional configuration, do not select that client group. If you do, backups will start to be performed based on the schedule you create here.

  11. When you are finished, click OK.
