Defining New Oracle Archive Relationships through Virtual Keys

This task applies to the subclient on the production database.

Business rules may necessitate adding additional dependent tables, to facilitate easier search and retrieval operation. Commvault provides a way to add additional Oracle table relationships through virtual keys.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client > Oracle >instance.
  2. Right-click the archive_subclient and click Properties.

The Subclient Properties dialog box appears.

  3. On the Content tab, right-click the table to build the query against and select Add Virtual Foreign Key.

The Add Virtual Relation for table dialog box appears.

    1. The Table Name is the one selected on the Subclient Properties dialog box.
    2. Select the Dependent Table. This is the table that will have a virtual key relationship with the Table Name.
    3. The Existing Oracle Foreign Key box displays the current relationships.
    4. Select the Virtual Key check box to add the relationship.
    5. For a new relationship, enter the Foreign Key name.
      • The left Columns box lists all the Dependent Table columns. Select the one that will have a relationship.
      • The right Columns box lists all the Table Name columns. Select the one that will have a relationship. The data type must match the column data type selected in the previous step.
