Configuring the Retention Period for Console Alerts

You can set the retention for console alerts based on the status of the console alerts:

  • Read-By default, console alerts that you read are retained in the CommServe database for 1 day.
  • Unread-By default, unread console alerts are retained in the CommServe database for 7 days.
  • Important-By default, important console alerts are retained in the CommServe database for 30 days.
  • Per criteria-By default, console alerts per alert criteria are retained in the CommServe database for 100 days, regardless of the alert status (read, unread, or important).

Procedure

  • To the CommServe computer, add the additional settings for the retention you want to modify as shown in the following table.

    NTActiveAlertRetentionDays CommServDB.GxGlobalParam INTEGER Enter the number of days to retain console alerts that were read. The maximum value is 30 days.
    NTUnReadActiveAlertRetentionDays CommServDB.GxGlobalParam INTEGER Enter the number of days to retain console alerts that are unread. The maximum value is 30 days.
    NTImportantActiveAlertRetentionDays CommServDB.GxGlobalParam INTEGER Enter the number of days to retain important console alerts. The maximum value is 60 days.
    nConsoleAlertCountForUser CommServDB.GxGlobalParam INTEGER Enter the number of console alerts to retain per alert criteria. The maximum value is 200 alerts.
