Hyperconverged Storage Pool - Verifying the Default Configurations

After installing the Storage Pool package on the Linux MediaAgents, you can verify the components that are configured by default.

Before You Begin

Ensure that the Storage Pool package is installed on all the required Linux MediaAgents as described in Installing the MediaAgent.

Default Components

On the Commvault Console, verify the following default components:

  • Storage Pool:

From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computer Groups > StoragePool.

The StoragePool client group is created after the installation of the first MediaAgent node which has the Storage Pool package installed on it.
  • Additional settings:
    1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computer Groups > Storage Pool.
    2. Right click the Storage Pool and click Properties.
    3. In the Client Group dialog box, click the Additional Settings tab.
    4. Verify the following additional setting:
      • No. of MediaAgents: By default the value is set to 3. This signifies that three MediaAgents will constitute a block.

Important: The value of this setting can only be modified before the storage pool is active. As the default value is 3, the storage pool is activated and is ready for backups when the third MediaAgent node is installed.

      • Disperse Factor: By default the value is set to 6. this signifies the number of bricks that can be missed, without losing access to data.
      • Redundancy factor: By default the value is 2. This signifies that out of the 3 MediaAgent nodes, even if two of them are down and unavailable, the data protection operations can still continue.
      • Storage Pool: By default the value is true when the first MediaAgent node of the Storage Pool is installed. This signifies that the storage pool is active.
  • Disk library:
    1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Storage Resources > Libraries.
    2. Verify a disk library named DiskLib_Storage_Pool.
    3. Right-click the mount path of the DiskLib_Storage_Pool library > Share Mount Path.
    4. Verify that paths of all the MediaAgent nodes are in the following format:

      /ws/glus

    5. On the Mount Path Properties dialog box, verify that the MediaAgent nodes are sharing the same path.
  • A storage policy with global deduplication and a storage policy copy:
    1. In the CommCell Browser, expand Policies > Storage Policies.
    2. Verify a storage policy with global deduplication named GDSP_DiskLib_Storage_Pool is created.
    3. Verify the dependent storage policy copy with SP_GDSP_DiskLib_Storage_Pool is created.
  • The MediaAgent nodes are added to the global deduplication storage policy copy.
    1. On the CommCell Console, expand Policies > Storage Policies.
    2. Right-click the auto created GDSP_DiskLib_Storage_Pool storage policy copy and click Properties.
    3. Click the Data Path tab.

All the MediaAgent nodes should be visible.
