Configuring Access to the CommCell Console Through the Commvault Proxy

If you want tenants to use the CommCell Console, you must configure the CommCell Console to communicate with the CommServe computer through the proxy.

Before You Begin

You must install and configure the Commvault proxy. For instructions, see Setting Up the Commvault Proxy for the Service Provider.

Procedure

  1. Configure third-party port mappings for incoming connections:
    1. From the CommCell Browser, right-click the CommServe node, and then click Properties.

The CommCell Properties dialog box appears.

    2. On the Firewall Configurations tab, select the Configure Firewall Settings check box.
    3. On the Firewall Configuration tab, click the Options tab, select the Access GUI Server (EvMgrS) via following proxy check box, and then specify the following details:
      • From the Remote Proxy list, select the Commvault proxy, which is where the CommCell Console is installed.
      • In the Port Number box, type 8401 or specify a port number of your preference.

Important: If you specify a port number other than 8401, you must update the port number in the Galaxy.jnlp file.

    4. Click OK.
    5. Push the firewall configuration on the CommServe computer and on the proxy:
      • From the CommCell Browser, right-click the CommServe node, and then click All Tasks > Push Firewall Configuration.

        Follow the firewall prompts.

      • From the CommCell Browser, go to Client Computers, right-click the proxy client, and then click All Tasks > Push Firewall Configuration.

        Follow the firewall prompts.

  2. If you want to configure the login dialog box of the CommCell Console to always display the name of the Commvault proxy, complete the following steps:

    1. Log on to the Commvault proxy, and then go to the Software_Installation_Directory/GUI folder.
    2. Open the oem.properties file with a text editor, and then add the following lines at the end of the file:
    3. consoleProxyHostName=<host name or IP address of the proxy>

consoleProxyPort=<port number used by the proxy to communicate with the CommServe computer>

    4. Save the file.
