Configure a Storage Virtual Machine on the NetApp Storage Array

On a NAS client computer for NetApp cluster, you can use the detect option to automatically detect storage virtual machines (SVM), then you can choose an SVM, and with the add option, add the SVM in the CommServe database, as an array management entry and a de-configured NAS client.

When you detect and add an SVM from the NAS client computer level, an array management entry and a de-configured NAS client are automatically created for the SVM. The snapshot configuration property tunneling is set by default on the array management entry that corresponds to the SVM. The tunneling option enables snap operations to be triggered on the SVM via the cluster/physical storage array.

This configuration procedure applies to NetApp cluster mode storage arrays and SVMs. For the configuration of NetApp 7-Mode storage arrays and vFilers, you can use the same configuration procedure.

The type of file server, whether physical or virtual, is automatically detected when you add the NetApp array entry.
