Finder Plug-In - Recall Data

Note: The Recall Data feature of the Finder Plug-In is supported with the Laptop Backup for Macintosh feature only if OnePass archiving is enabled for the client.

Preview Files

Archived files can be previewed. You can see the first few bytes of data when you preview a file. Preview option for a file will be available only if content indexing is enabled for the client and the archived data is content indexed.

Procedure

  1. Open Macintosh Finder, and then right-click the stub that needs to be recalled.
  2. Select Edge | Preview.
  3. Enter the Web Console credentials. You will be prompted for credentials only the first time. The login details are saved in the Keychain Access application for future access.

Recall

Recall a File

You can recall an individual stub from Macintosh Finder.

Procedure

  1. Open Macintosh Finder, and then right-click the stub that needs to be recalled.
  2. Select Edge | Recall Data.
  3. A dialog box with recall status is displayed after the recall completes. Click OK.

On Macintosh 10.7 and 10.8 computers, alternatively, you can recall a stub from Finder using the following steps.

Procedure

  1. Open Macintosh Finder, and then Control-click the stub that needs to be recalled.
  2. Click Get Info.
  3. Click Recall.
  4. A dialog box with recall status is displayed after the recall completes. Click OK.

Recall Multiple Files

You can recall multiple stubs from Macintosh Finder.

Procedure

  1. Open Macintosh Finder, and then select and right-click multiple stubs together.
  2. Select Edge | Recall Data.
  3. A dialog box with recall status is displayed after the recall completes. Click OK.

Recall a Folder

You can recall a folder and all of its contents from Macintosh Finder. Recall Folders option appears only when there are one or more stubs immediately under a folder.

Procedure

  1. Open Macintosh Finder, and then right-click the backed up folder that needs to be recalled.
  2. Select Edge | Recall Data.
  3. A dialog box with recall status is displayed after the recall completes. Click OK.

    Navigate to a sub-directory within the folder and open a file underneath it. You will be able to open all files in the recalled folder.

Recall Recursively

You can recall a folder and all of its contents recursively from Macintosh Finder.

Procedure

  1. Open Macintosh Finder, and then right-click the backed up folder that needs to be recalled recursively.
  2. Select Edge | Recall Data Recursively.
  3. A dialog box with recall status is displayed after the recall completes. Click OK.

    Navigate to a sub-directory within the folder and open a file underneath it. You will be able to open all files in the recalled folder.
