Configuration - Driverless OnePass for Windows File System

  1. In the CommCell Browser, expand client_name > File System > defaultBackupSet.
  2. Right-click the defaultBackupSet, point to All Tasks, then click New Subclient.
  3. In the Subclient Properties dialog box, on the General tab, enter the name of the subclient in the Subclient Name box.
  4. Click the Content tab, then select the data that you want to back up and archive.

    • Do not create subclients configured for backup and archiving with overlapping content in the same backup set.
    • Do not include data that resides on the Cluster Shared Volume File System (CSVFS) for Windows 2008 and Windows 2008 R2 computers as your subclient content.

  5. Click Advanced.
  6. In the Advanced Subclient Properties dialog box, click the Retention tab and select the Extend storage policy retention check box.
  7. Select the Archiver retention and Backup retention check boxes and set the time period for which you want to retain the archived items. For more information on retention options, see Retention Options for OnePass.

  8. Click OK.

  9. Click the Disk Cleanup tab and select the Enable archiving with these rules checkbox.

    To archive your files, set the rules accordingly based on file access time, modified time or file size.

    To accept the default values, click OK.

    Note: Once you click OK, you cannot clear the Extend storage policy retention check box in the Retention tab of your subclient.

  10. Click the Storage Device tab. Select the Storage Policy from the drop down list, then click OK.

    If you do not have a Storage Policy created, follow the steps given below to create a Storage Policy. 

  11. Perform this step to create a storage policy.
  12. Perform the following steps to create a storage policy.
    1. Click Create Storage Policy.
    2. Follow the prompts displayed in the Storage Policy Wizard. The required options are mentioned below:
      1. Select the Storage Policy type as Data Protection and Archiving and click Next.
      2. Enter the name in the Storage Policy Name box and click Next.
      3. From the Library list, click the name of a disk library to which the primary copy should be associated and then click Next.

        Ensure that you select a library attached to a MediaAgent operating in the current release.

      4. From the MediaAgent list, click the name of a MediaAgent that will be used to create the primary copy and then click Next.
      5. For the device streams and the retention criteria information, click Next to accept default values.
      6. Select Yes to enable deduplication for the primary copy.
      7. From the MediaAgent list, click the name of the MediaAgent that will be used to host the Deduplication database (DDB).

        In the Location box, type the name of the folder in which the DDB must be located or click the Browse to select the folder, and then click Next.

      8. Review the details and click Finish to create the Storage Policy.

        Tip: We recommend that you perform an auxiliary copy operation  to replicate data from the primary copy to a secondary copy in the event of a catastrophic hardware failure on the primary location. For instructions on performing auxiliary copy, see Performing an Auxiliary Copy.

  13. In the Backup Schedule dialog box, click Do Not Schedule, and then click OK.
