Configuring File System Size Rule for IBM Spectrum Scale (GPFS) Data

You can archive the backed up files based on the available free space on the volume; if the free space on the volume is less than the value specified, files matching the remaining archiving rules are archived.

Before You Begin

Create a user-defined subclient to archive data, see Creating a User-Defined Subclient to Archive GPFS Data.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > pseudo-client > Distributed Apps > instance.
  2. Right-click the subclient, and then click Properties.

The Subclient Properties dialog box appears.

  3. On the Disk Cleanup tab, complete the following steps:
    1. Select the Enable archiving with these rules check box.
    2. In the Start cleaning up disk when it is less than n% Free box, enter the low watermark value for the volume.

During a backup job if the free space on the volume is less than the value entered in this box, files matching the remaining rules will become candidates for archiving.

Note: To ignore the Start cleaning up disk when it is less than n% Free rule, enter a value of 100.

    3. In the Stop cleaning up disk when it is up to n% Free box, enter the high watermark value for the volume.

During a backup job if the files matching the remaining rules will stop becoming candidates for archiving if free space on the volume is equal to or greater than the value entered in this box.

Note: To ignore the Stop cleaning up disk when it is up to n% Free rule, enter a value of 100.

    4. Click OK.
