Creating the SAP HANA HDBUSERSTORE KEY

You set up the key on the SAP HANA client computer to communicate with the SAP HANA Secure User Store.

Best Practice: Use a SAP HANA HDBUSERSTORE key instead of a user name and password.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the client computer with admin credentials.
  2. On the command line, type the following command substituting the key, client computer and port number variables:

The port number has the following format:

    3<Instance_ID>:15 - for a single database

3<instance_ID>:13 - for a multitenant database, or for a multi-database that migrate from a single database

    hdbuserstore -i set <key> <client_computer>:<port_number> <user_name> <password>

  3. On the command line, type the following command to verify the key information.

    hdbuserstore LIST

Example

Single Database

Create the KEY called BACKUPM for the hana02 client.

hdbuserstore -i set BACKUP hana02:30115 system<<EOF
> password1234
> EOF

View the key:

 hdbuserstore LIST

Output

DATA FILE: /usr/sap/TIN/home/.hdb/hana02/SSFS_HDB.DAT
KEY FILE : /usr/sap/PD1/home/.hdb/hana1/SSFS_HDB.KEY
