Adding Cryptocurrency Wallets to the Backup Content for a Laptop

You can add cryptocurrency desktop wallets to the backup content on Windows and Macintosh laptops. Commvault currently supports Bitcoin Core wallets.

You can back up Bitcoin Core wallet files(wallet.dat) in the data directory by using the moniker %CryptoWallet%.

The default location of the data directory for Bitcoin Core wallet is as follows:

  • Windows: %APPDATA%\Bitcoin

  • Macintosh: ~/Library/Application Support/Bitcoin/

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Manage > Plans.

    The Plans page appears.

  2. In the Plan name column, click the plan.

    The plan details page appears.

  3. Under Backup content, click Edit.

  4. On the Windows or Mac tab, beside Content to backup, click Add.

    The Add content dialog box appears.

  5. Click Add custom content, and then type the moniker %CryptoWallet%.

    Example

    • Windows: \%CryptoWallet%

    • Macintosh: /%CryptoWallet%

    You can also type full path to the wallet file of the Bitcoin Core application.

  6. Click Save.

  7. Repeat these steps until content is added for each operating system that you want the plan to support.

  8. Click Save.
