Adding a NAS Dell EMC Isilon/PowerScale server for CIFS Shares

You can add a NAS Dell EMC Isilon/PowerScale server for backups of CIFS exports.

Before You Begin

CIFS shares require the following privileges to run Changelist backups.

Go to the Add NAS Server Page

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > File Servers.

    The File servers page appears.

  2. In the upper-right corner of the page, click Add server.

    The Configure File Server page appears.

  3. Click NAS and then click Next.

    The Add NAS server page appears.

Specify the NAS Server Details

  1. In the Name box, enter the name of the Dell EMC Isilon/PowerScale server.

  2. In the Host name box, enter the fully qualified host name of the Dell EMC Isilon/PowerScale server.

  3. From the Plan list, select a server plan.

Configure CIFS Network Share

In the Network share configuration section, do the following:

  1. (Optional) To add the array details, click Add next to the Array field.

    The Add array details page appears.

    1. From the Select vendor list, select Dell EMC Isilon.

    2. Enter the required information.

    3. Click OK.

      Note

      The array details are required for IntelliSnap protection as well as for faster CIFS scan times using the Dell EMC Isilon/PowerScale Changelist feature.

  2. Move the CIFS toggle key to the right.

  3. (Optional) From the Access nodes list, select the access nodes groups and access nodes to use for the Dell EMC Isilon/PowerScale server.

    Access nodes are clients that have the Commvault Windows file system software installed. If you do not select the access nodes, the MediaAgents associated with the selected server plan are used as the access nodes. However, if the MediaAgents do not have access to the file server, then you must select the access nodes without fail.

  4. Next to the CIFS credentials field, click Edit.

    The Impersonate user page appears.

    1. Enter the CIFS credentials to access the Dell EMC Isilon/PowerScale server, or use saved credentials.

      Note

      You must enter credentials of a user that has read access to all the data to backup.

    2. Click OK.

Select Content for Backup

  1. In the Backup content field, select the content to back up:

    1. To back up all the CIFS shares, leave the default value.

    2. To customize the content that is backed up, do the following:

      1. Click Edit.

        The Add/edit content dialog box appears.

      2. On the Content tab, specify the content to back up.

      3. To enter paths to items you want to include in backups, in the Enter custom path field, enter a path, and then click the add Managing File System Subclients (1) button.

      4. To select items from a file system view of the server, click Browse, and then select the check boxes for the items that you want to include in backups.

      5. To add filters to exclude items from backups, in the Exclusions tab, do the following:

      6. To enter paths to items you want to exclude from backups, in the Enter custom path field, enter a filter pattern, and then click the add Managing File System Subclients (2) button.

      7. To select items from a file system view of the server, click Browse, and then select the check boxes for the items that you want to exclude from backups.

      8. To configure how global exceptions are applied to the subclient, from the Include global exception filters list, select one of the following:

      9. Use cell level policy (default): Enables or disables the global exceptions for the subclient depending on whether the Use global filters on all subclients option is enabled for the environment.

      10. On: Enables the global exceptions for the subclient.

      11. Off: Disables the global exceptions for the subclient.

      12. To configure exceptions to the exclusion filters, in the Exceptions tab, do the following:

      13. To enter paths to items you want to except from the backup filters (exclusions), in the Enter custom path field, enter a filter pattern, and then click the add Managing File System Subclients (3) button.

      14. To select items from a file system view of the server, click Browse, and then select the check boxes for the items that you want to except from the backup filters (exclusions).

      15. Click Save.

  2. Click Save.
