Enabling Automatic Discovery of Applications for a Server Group

You can enable the automatic discovery of applications for all servers in a server group.


Installation of some agents on Windows servers may require a reboot, causing server downtimes. Enable the automatic discovery of applications feature for only those server groups that do not include critical Windows servers.


  1. From the navigation pane, go to Manage > Server groups.

    The Server groups page appears.

  2. In the Name column, click a server group.

    The server group properties page appears.

  3. In the General section, move the Auto discover applications toggle key to the right.


Every 24 hours, according to each server's individual Commvault service schedule, the software discovers the applications on each server and installs a Commvault software package for each application that is found.
