Complete the Guided Setup for the Archive Application

When you log on to the Command Center for the first time, a setup wizard guides you through the core setup required by the applications available in the Command Center. After you complete the core setup, complete the setup wizard specific to the Archive application.

The File System package and the MediaAgent package must be installed on your share access node.

For IBM Spectrum Scale (GPFS) and Lustre, install the File System package and the MediaAgent package on your data access node.

For Hadoop (HDFS), the Hadoop package and the MediaAgent package must be installed on your data access node.

Before You Begin

To complete the setup wizard for the archive application, you will need the following server information:

  • The file server name

  • The host name

  • The credentials that you use to access the server

  • Type of share (CIFS or NFS)

  • Access nodes

  • Archiving rules

  • An archive plan

Start the Configuration Wizard

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Guided setup, and then click Configure on the Archiving tile.

    The General page of the configuration wizard appears.

  2. In the Name box, enter a name for the server.

  3. In the Host name box, provide the hostname of the machine.

  4. Select the Vendor type.

    Select Generic for NFS share.

    Select the specific vendor type for CIFS share.

  5. Click Next.

    The Plan page of the configuration wizard appears.

  1. Add a new archive plan and then, provide information about storage, retention, and archive schedules.

    If you have created an archive plan already, enter the name and select the plan from the list.

  2. Click Next.

    The Archive Method page of the configuration wizard appears.

Archiving Method Configuration

  1. Select NFS or CIFS as required and click Next.

    The Network Share Configuration page of the configuration wizard appears.

  2. From the Access node list, select the access node for network share.

    If you have chosen CIFS, click Select credential to use Impersonate user or to use a saved credential.

    If the vendor type is Netapp and Archive method is CIFS provide the Array credentials.

  3. By default, all CIFS or NFS shares are selected as the archive content.

    To archive specific shares, move the toggle key to the left.

    Provide the specific share as the archive content.

  4. Click Next.

    The Migrate To This Server page of the configuration wizard appears.

  5. Optional: To migrate data from the old server, slide the Migrate data from old server toggle to the right.

  6. Click Add.
