Creating an Archive Set

Archive sets are logical groupings of subclients that contain data that you want to archive. You can create user-defined archive sets.

A default archive set is automatically created when a file server is added.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Archiving.

    The File Servers page appears.

  2. Click the file server.

    The file server properties page appears.

  3. In the upper-right corner of the page, click the action button action_button, and then click Add archive set.

  4. In the Name box, enter the name of the archive set.

  5. From the Plan list, select an archive plan.

  6. From the Access nodes list, select a computer that will be used as a proxy computer for archiving operations.

  7. On the Content tab, choose the data to include for archiving.

    • To enter paths to items you want to include for archiving, in the Enter custom path field, enter a path, and then click the add Managing File System Subclients (1) button.

    • To select items from a file system view of the server, click Browse, and then select the check boxes for the items that you want to include for archiving.

    • To use a saved user credentials to access the file system, click Impersonate user, and then select the credential to use.

    • To archive well known folders on your computer, click Content Library, and then select Desktop or Documents on your computer.

  8. To exclude items from archiving, in the Exclusions tab, do the following:

    • To enter paths to items you want to exclude from archiving, in the Enter custom path field, enter a filter pattern, and then click the add Managing File System Subclients (2) button.

    • To select items from a file system view of the server, click Browse, and then select the check boxes for the items that you want to exclude from archiving.

    • To configure how global exclusions are applied to the subclient, from the Include global exclusions filters list, select one of the following:

      • Use cell level policy (default): Enables or disables the global exclusions for the subclient depending on whether the Use global filters on all subclients option is enabled for the environment.

      • On: Enables the global exclusions for the subclient.

      • Off: Disables the global exclusions for the subclient.

  9. To configure exceptions to the exclusion filters, in the Exceptions tab, do the following:

    • To enter paths to items you want to except from the archiving filters (exclusions), in the Enter custom path field, enter a filter pattern, and then click the add Managing File System Subclients (3) button.

    • To select items from a file system view of the server, click Browse, and then select the check boxes for the items that you want to except from the archiving filters (exclusions).

  10. Click OK.

    The plan, content, filters, and exceptions that you add when create the archive set will be assigned automatically to the default subclient created under the archive set.
