Once you install PostgreSQL iDataAgent, you need to create an instance in order to perform your first backup. This automatically creates the following default backup sets, each with a default subclient:

DumpBasedBackupSet 
- 
FSBasedBackupSet 
Before You Begin
If you have not done so already, configure a storage policy.
Procedure
- 
From the CommCell Browser, navigate to Client Computers | <Client>.

Right-click PostgreSQL, point to All Tasks, and then click New PostgreSQL Instance. The PostgreSQL Create Instance dialog box appears.

On the General tab, perform the following. - 
From the Server Name list, select the instance that you want to back up.

In the Version box, enter the PostgreSQL database server version. 
- 
The Endpoint box displays the endpoint that the software uses to connect to the PostgreSQL instance. The endpoint includes the DNS names and the port number.

Click the Credential list, and then click Create New to add a new credential.

From the Storage policy list, select the storage policy that you want to use for backup operations.

Click OK. 
Note
You can use LDAP to authenticate the PostgreSQL Server.
