Full System Recovery of DB2 Database: Restoring the DB2 Database

Restore and bring up each dropped database from its database backup image in the event of a disaster.

Before You Begin

Rebuild the Operating system

Procedure

1. From the CommCell Browser, navigate to Client Computers > Client > DB2 > instance.

2. Right-click the backup set, point to All Tasks, and then click Browse and Restore.

3. Click View Content.

4. In the right pane of the Browse window, click the <Backup Set>and select all the entities.

5. Click Recover All Selected.

6. Click OK.

7. Click OK to deactivate the database.

   You can monitor the progress of the restore job in the Job Controller.

8. Once the restore job has completed, right-click the agent and click View | Restore History and click OK.

9. You can right-click the job and view the following details:

   • View Restore Items

     You can view them as Successful, Failed, Skipped or All.

   • View Job Details

   • View Events of the restore job

   • View Log files of the restore job

What to Do Next

After the database is restored, verify that the restored database and log files are available in the original location.
