You can set up a data interface pair (DIP), also called a network pair, between two client groups using IPv4 or IPv6 network interfaces.
Before You Begin
Confirm that the client groups that you are setting up already exist.
Procedure
-
From the CommCell Console ribbon, click Control Panel. The Control Panel window appears.
-
Click Data > Backup Networks. The welcome page of the Backup Network Wizard appears.
-
Click Next.
-
In the Select 1st Computer list, select the client_group.
-
In the Select 2nd Computer list, select the client_group to which the clients that are members of the above group will connect through the DIP.
-
Click Next. If the list has multiple entries, the Interface on client_group column will read "No Default Interface" for those entries. This means that it can select any interface on the client group.
-
If the interface that you want to use appears in the list, make sure its Status option is selected, click that interface, click Next., and then go to Step 8, below.
-
If the interface that you want to use does not appear in the list, perform the following steps: Note You must enter at least one interface in Step b or Step c, below. -
Click Add.
-
In the first Interfaces on client_group list, either leave the selection empty (meaning that it can select any interface on the client group), or use wildcard expressions or CIDR notation to enter a network range, as follows: Note Wildcard expressions and CIDR notation are not supported with cluster clients. -
Wildcard examples: 10.* 10.0.* fd01:1111:24:32:* *.backup.com
-
CIDR examples: 10.0.0.1/8 192.168.100.14/24 fd01:1111:24:32:592c:2123:666d:973f/64 (Start Range: fd01:1111:24:32:0:0:0:0 End Range: fd01:1111:24:32:ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff)

-
-
In the second Interfaces on client_group list, either leave the selection empty (meaning that it can select any interface on the client group), or use wildcard expressions or CIDR notation to enter a network range, as follows: -
Wildcard examples: 10.* 10.0.* fd01:1111:24:32:* *.backup.com
-
CIDR examples: 10.0.0.1/8 192.168.100.14/24 fd01:1111:24:32:592c:2123:666d:973f/64 (Start Range: fd01:1111:24:32:0:0:0:0 End Range: fd01:1111:24:32:ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff)
