You can deploy Commvault Cloud on Windows or Linux (BYOL) from the AWS Marketplace. This deployment creates an Amazon EC2 instance that includes Commvault software and the corresponding Windows Server or Linux operating systems.
Considerations
-
To determine the requirements for the AWS instance where the AMI will be deployed, see Software, Hardware, and Other Requirements for Protecting Amazon EC2 Resources.
-
When you launch the AWS instance, you must provide a key pair. You can use an existing key pair or create a new one as part of the deployment.
To deploy Commvault Cloud (Windows/Linux BYOL) from the AWS Marketplace, follow these steps:
-
In the Amazon EC2 console, go to Instances, and then click Launch instances.
A setup wizard appears to guide you through the deployment.
-
Under Application and OS Images (Amazon Machine Image), search for Commvault.
-
Select Commvault Cloud on Windows/Linux BYOL.
-
Select an instance type suitable for your environment.
-
Identify a network and subnet that are available for the deployment.
-
(Optional) Add additional storage if needed.
By default, the AMI includes the following storage configuration:
Disk Size Purpose OS disk 100 GB OS software and Commvault installation binaries DataDisk1 60 GB Commvault software DataDisk2 40 GB CommServe database DataDisk3 50 GB IndexCache and Deduplication DataDisk4 50 GB Deduplication DataDisk5 100 GB Job Results DataDisk6 1024 GB Library Storage -
When you launch the instance, provide a key pair.
Note
You can use an existing key pair or create a new one during deployment.
Complete the CommServe Configuration
During deployment, a PowerShell script (for Windows) or a boot script (for Linux) runs automatically to configure the CommServe software. The process takes approximately 4–5 minutes. When the configuration is complete, the Commvault Command Center opens automatically on Windows. For Linux, open the Commvault Command Center manually to access the Create New Account dialog box.
-
Log on to the new instance.
-
For Windows, a PowerShell script automatically runs to configure the CommServe software.
-
For Linux, a boot script runs for approximately 4–5 minutes to perform the same configuration.
-
When the configuration is complete:
-
On Windows, the Commvault Command Center automatically opens.
-
On Linux, open the Command Center manually.
-
In the Create New Account dialog box, enter the email address and password for the CommServe administrator account.
-
After the account is created, you can log on to the Commvault Command Center.
