Enabling Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) on an Existing CommServe LiveSync Setup

Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) can be enabled on the SQL Server in an existing CommServe LiveSync setup.

Procedure

  1. Disable the CommServe LiveSync feature. For more information about disabling the CommServe LiveSync feature, see Enabling or Disabling CommServe LiveSync.

  2. On the production CommServe host, open SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and do the following:

    1. Enable TDE on all the Commvault databases.

    2. Backup the TDE certificates from the production CommServe host.

  3. On the standby CommServe host, open SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and do the following:

    1. Restore the TDE certificates backed up on the production CommServe host. For more information, see Microsoft SQL Server documentation.

    2. Manually restore Commvault databases that are not selected for CSLiveSync replication.

  4. Enable the CommServe LiveSync feature. For more information about disabling the CommServe LiveSync feature, see Enabling or Disabling CommServe LiveSync.
