Deploying an access node on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

Create an access node on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) before you configure OCI protection if you use your own infrastructure.

Requirements

  • You must have permission to deploy resources in the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) tenancy and region where you'll create the access node.

  • For vendor native deployment, have access to the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Console.

  • If you're using Commvault software, have the CommServe host name and CommServe name available.

  • If you're using Commvault Cloud, have the installation authcode available for manual deployments.

Add Access Node

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Manage > Infrastructure.

  2. Click the Access nodes tile.

  3. In the upper-right area of the page, click Add.

  4. From the Vendor list, select Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

  5. From the Deployment type list, select any of the following:

    • Vendor native deployment
      1. For Platform, select the operating system.

      2. For Region, select a region to deploy the access node in.

      3. Click Oracle cloud resource stack to open the OCI console, or click Copy Link and paste the URL into a browser.

      4. Follow the instructions shown on the screen.

    • Manual deployment

      Use this procedure to install the Commvault software on a computer that you'll use as an access node.

      Windows

      1. From the Platform list, select Windows.

      2. Click Download package to download the installation package.

      3. Copy the installation Auth code. You'll enter this code during the installation.

      4. Copy the installation package to the Windows computer that you'll use as the access node.

      5. Run the installation executable as an administrator.

      6. Follow the installation wizard.

        • Select the installation language.

        • Verify that the required packages for the access node are selected.

        • Specify the installation directory, if required.

        • Configure the firewall settings, if prompted.

        • Provide the CommServe host name, if prompted.

        • Paste the installation Auth code.

      7. Complete the installation.

      8. Return to the Command Center and verify that the computer appears on the Access nodes page.

      Linux

      1. From the Platform list, select Linux.

      2. Click Download package to download the installation package.

      3. Copy the installation Auth code. You'll enter this code during the installation.

      4. Transfer the installation package to the Linux computer that you'll use as the access node.

      5. Extract the installation package, if necessary.

      6. Run the installation script (for example, ./cvpkgadd) as the root user or by using sudo.

      7. Follow the installation prompts.

        • Confirm that the required packages for the access node are selected.

        • Specify the installation directory, if required.

        • Configure the firewall settings, if prompted.

        • Provide the CommServe host name, if prompted.

        • Enter the installation Auth code.

      8. Complete the installation.

      9. Return to the Command Center and verify that the computer appears on the Access nodes page.
