You can configure a cloud storage as the export destination for Disaster Recovery (DR) backups.
Note
If you plan to change or switch to another cloud storage, consider the following:
-
Run a full DR backup job after the change.
-
Manually prune existing DR backup jobs from the original cloud storage library.
Before You Begin
-
Configure the cloud storage that you plan to use for the DR export destination as a storage device and note the name of the storage.
For more information about configuring a cloud storage device, see Configuring Cloud Storage.
-
Ensure that the CommServe can connect to the cloud storage to upload DR backups directly by configuring the required network and firewall settings.
-
If the CommServe connects to the cloud storage through a proxy server, ensure that the proxy details are configured in the cloud storage properties. For more information, see Setting up a Proxy Server to Access the Cloud Storage Library.
-
When using Amazon S3 as the destination, if the CommServe is on-premises, use the access key and secret key as credentials because the data is sent directly from the CommServe to the cloud storage.
Procedure
-
From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Manage > Maintenance.
-
Click the DR backup (Daily) tile.
-
Click Edit.
-
Enable the Upload backup metadata to cloud library toggle key.
-
From the Cloud library list, select the cloud storage to store the DR backups.
Notes
-
Cloud storage names that use Unicode characters are not supported.
-
Air Gap Protect cloud storage is not supported. Instead, use the Upload to Commvault cloud option.
-
-
For Daily start time, select the custom schedule for DR backups, if required.
-
To reduce the size of databases during DR backup, enable the Enable compression toggle key.
-
Click Save.
Result
The specified cloud storage is configured as the export destination.
What to Do Next
Run a Full DR backup job after configuring the cloud library as the export destination. If a Differential DR backup job runs without a corresponding full backup, the backup cannot be restored.
