Enabling Root Access for HyperScale Storage Pool

To tighten root access to the nodes in a HyperScale storage pool, Commvault supports root access using authorization code. You must send request to the Commvault Support to enable root access using authorization code. The support team reviews your request and then enables root access for a HyperScale storage pool. The support team also sets the number of active hours for the root access after which the root access is disabled.

When root access with authorization code is enabled for a storage pool, you cannot enable password-based root access for the nodes in the Command Center. To enable password-based root access for the nodes, you must contact Customer Support.

For additional security, you can run the Enable root access Authorization workflow that sends request to the administrators to approve root access to HyperScale storage pool. For a non-company user, the member of the master user group can approve the request. For a company user, the member of the tenant admin group can approve the request. For instructions about executing the workflow, see Running Workflows and Completing Actions.
