Perform a Test Backup and Restore of Apache Hive Databases and Tables

To verify that the Hive app is set up correctly, perform a test backup and restore of Hive databases and tables.

Back Up the Cluster

1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Big data.

   The Big data page appears.

2. In the row for the cluster that contains the subclient that you want to back up, click the action button , and then click Back up.

   The Backup dialog box appears.

3. Click the Hive subclient, and then click Select.

   The Select backup level dialog box appears.

4. Click OK.

Restore the Cluster

1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Big data.

   The Big data page appears.

2. Click the cluster that has the Hive app added.

   The cluster page appears.

3. Under Hadoop Apps, click Hive.

   The app page appears.

4. Click the Table groups tab.

5. Under Table groups, in the row for the subclient, click the action button , and then click Restore.

   The Backup content page appears.

6. Select the databases or tables to restore, and then click Restore.

   The Restore options dialog box appears.

7. Click Restore.
