Perform a Test Backup and Restore of the Azure Cosmos DB for MongoDB Instance

To verify that the Azure Cosmos DB for MongoDB instance is set up correctly, perform a test backup and restore.

Back Up the Instance

From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Databases.

The database overview page appears.
On the Instances tab, click the instance that you want to back up.

The instance overview page appears.
On the Collection groups tab, click the collection group that you want to back up.

The collection group overview page appears.
In the upper-right area of the window, click Backup.

The Backup options dialog box appears.
Under Backup level, select the type of backup that you want to perform, and then click SUBMIT.

From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Databases.

The database overview page appears.
On the Instances tab, in the row for the instance, click the action button , and then click Restore.

The Backup content dialog box appears.
Click the account to restore, then to restore all of the databases, select the check box next to the Database heading.
Click RESTORE.

The Restore options dialog box appears.
From the Destination cloud account list, select the cloud account for the destination.
To increase the throughput of the collection and increase the restore performance, move the Adjust collection level throughput toggle to the right, and then select the number of Request Units (RUs).
In the Number of parallel writers box, type the number of streams to be used by the restore operation.
If you want to restore collections that already exist on the destination, move the Overwrite destination collections toggle key to the right.

If you do not enable this option and collections already exist on the destination, the restore jobs may fail.
To restore databases with a different name, under Content, in the Destination box, type a new database name.
Click SUBMIT.
