Performing Out-of-Place Restores to Cloud Storage Using the Windows File System Agent

You can use the Windows File System Agent to restore protected data from Windows or Macintosh computers to the following cloud storage services:

  • Amazon S3

  • Azure BLOB storage

  • GCP buckets

Procedure

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Files.

    The Overview page appears.

  2. Go to the Files tab, and then click the file server.

    The file server page appears.

  3. In the Actions column for the client computer that contains the data that you want to restore, click the action button action_button, and then click Restore.

    The Restore dialog box appears.

  4. Choose the content that you want to restore:

    • To restore the contents of the entire backup set, select the check box next to Name.

    • To restore the contents of a subclient, select the appropriate subclient.

  5. Click Select Content.

    The Backup content page appears.

  6. To restore specific files, expand the folder, and then select the files.

  7. Click Restore.

    The Restore options dialog box appears.

  8. From the Destination list, select the cloud storage client that you configured. The Restore to original folder check box is cleared automatically.

  9. In the Destination Path box, type the full path to the destination folder, or click Browse to select the destination folder.

  10. The Use optimal number of restore streams toggle is enabled, by default. With this, an optimal number of restore streams are automatically used based on the size of the data that you have selected for restore. To configure the number of restore streams manually, move the toggle to the left and enter the number of streams.

  11. Select the Unconditionally overwrite if it already exists check box so that any existing data on the destination client is overwritten during the restore operation.

  12. Click Submit.
