Storage Health Monitoring for Storages Created with Array Credentials

Commvault software periodically monitors the health of storage pools created with array credentials and displays the current storage array health status on the Health page. This enables administrators to quickly identify storage infrastructure issues and take corrective action before they affect backup or restore operations.

Storage Health Status

The Hardware Status field displays one of the following values.

Status Description
Healthy All monitored storage components are operating normally. No hardware-related issues have been detected.
Degraded One or more storage components require attention. Although the storage system remains operational, hardware issues have been detected that could impact redundancy or availability if left unresolved.
Needs Attention Multiple hardware conditions require administrative action. Review the storage environment to identify affected nodes and resolve the reported issues.
N/A Hardware health information is currently unavailable. This may occur when the storage management interface cannot provide sufficient information to determine the health status.

Best Practices

  • Regularly review the Health page for your storage pools.
  • Investigate any Degraded or Needs Attention status promptly to prevent potential service disruptions.

Procedure

  1. From the Command Center, navigate to Storage.
  2. Select the storage pool.
  3. Open the Health tab.
  4. Review the Hardware Status under Storage Information.

In addition to the hardware status, the page displays the following information:

  • Product version
  • Storage vendor
  • Bucket name
  • Storage pool usage
  • Estimated date to full (when available)
