Configuring an Air Gap Protect Network Storage Pool With Global Storage Policy

You can configure an Air Gap Protect Network Storage Pool with a global storage policy (GSP) from the CommCell Console.

About This Task

The configuration wizard automatically creates the following entities as soon as the storage pool is configured:

  • Creates an Air Gap Protect library

  • Creates a mount path for the cloud library

In addition, if a client computer group is associated with the storage pool, all the MediaAgents in the client computer group is automatically shared across the mount paths available in the library, with Read access.

Gather Cloud Storage Pool Data

Required Information

Details

Storage Policy Name

Name of the storage pool.

For example: Storagepool-CommvaultCloud001

Storage

Name of the available Air Gap Protect library with which the storage pool should be associated.

Client Group

Ability to associate a client group with the storage pool. (optional)

When a new MediaAgent is added to the client group, then it is automatically shared shared across all mount paths available in the library, with Read access..

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand to Storage Resources > Storage Pools.

  2. Right-click the Storage Pools, point to Add Storage Pools, click Cloud, and then click Air Gap Protect.

  3. The Create New Storage Pool Wizard opens. Follow the instructions in the wizard and use the data that was already gathered.

    In the Enable deduplication on Storage pool page, clear the Enable deduplication check box.

    In the Configure storage page, the library that you select or create must be exclusively associated with the storage pool.

  4. Click Finish.

    The new storage pool appears under the Storage Pools node.

Result

  • A new global storage policy will be created under the Storage Pools node and under the Storage Policies node.

    The Air Gap Protect Library along with the mount paths will be listed under Storage.

  • If a client group was selected, then all the MediaAgents in the client group are automatically included as follows:

    • Shared across all the mount paths available in the library

    • Added as a data path on the Global Deduplication Policy
