Getting Started with the Virtualize Me Feature for Azure or Azure Stack Hub

Getting started with Virtualize Me for Azure or Azure Stack Hub includes installing the Windows File System Agent on the client, installing Virtual Server Agent on the access node, and creating a virtualization client.

Procedure

  1. Verify that your environment meets the System Requirements of Virtualize Me for Azure and Azure Stack Hub.

  2. Review the License Requirements.

  3. Ensure that user has appropriate permissions to perform a Virtualize Me operation.

  4. Install the Windows File System Agent on the Client.

    Important

If you only install the File System Core package, you cannot perform system state backups that are essential to perform Virtualize Me operation.

  5. Verify that system state backup is enabled for the default Windows subclient.

    Important

    • While performing backup of a Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 8.1 client, ensure that the Administrator account is enabled.

    • Do not filter system state components, files, or directories that are required to turn ON the computer. Ensure that the subclient content is defined as /.

In case system state backup is not enabled for the default subclient, enable backing up the system state data.

  6. Install the Virtual Server Agent for Azure or Azure Stack Hub on at least one client computer in the CommCell Console. This client will be used as the access node for Virtualize Me operations.

    Note

You cannot use the CommServe server as an access node for Virtualize Me operations.

  7. Create a virtualization client for Azure or Azure Stack Hub subscription.
