Configure backups for Okta by connecting Commvault to your Okta organization through a secure API-based integration. After the connection is configured, you can back up and restore supported Okta objects.
Prerequisites
Install the Commvault OIN Application on Okta Console.
Start the configuration

From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Okta.

Click Add Okta app.

From the Region list, select a region in which you want to configure the Okta app.

Click Next.
-
Select an existing backup plan or create a new backup plan.

Click Next.
Specify app details and credentials

In Name, enter the app name.

For Okta app, select an existing credential or click the add button to create a new credential.
Need help creating credentials?

From the Authentication type, select App Registration (Secret).

In Credential name, enter a name for the credential.

In Client ID, enter the client ID from the Okta Admin Console.

For Organization URL, enter the URL of your Okta organization.

In Application secret, enter the client secret.

In Description, enter a short description.
-
For Key Expiry Interval, select Never expires to avoid manual certificate rotation.

Click Save.

Select the The Okta app is authorized from the Okta portal with all the required permissions. checkbox.

Click Create.
Review summary

Review the app summary.

Click Close.
Verify the connection
To verify the connection between the Okta Console and Commvault, follow these steps:

Go to the Configuration tab of the Okta app.

In the Okta connection settings tile, click Verify connection.
Validation
Run a backup
Run an on-demand backup to confirm that backups work correctly.

From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Okta.

Click the Okta app that you want to back up.

At the top-right of the page, click Backup.
-
Click Submit.
Confirm that the backup completed successfully

Go to the Monitoring tab.
-
Confirm that the backup job status is Completed in Current activity or Recent activity.
Test a restore
To confirm you can restore data, perform a simple object restore.

From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Okta.

Click the Okta app that you want to restore.

Select a recovery point, and then click Restore.

Select a small object to restore, and then click Restore.

Verify that the restored object is available in the Okta tenant.
