From the Access Nodes list, select the access nodes to use for the file server. You can back up CIFS shares using Windows as well as Linux access nodes.
An access node is a machine with Commvault software installed to manage communication to and from the protected system. To access your file server via CIFS, the access node(s) requires the Windows File System software or the Linux File System software.
If you do not have an existing access node that can be used to protect your file server, create a new one.
Steps to create an access node
- Click the add button
.
The Add a new Access node dialog box appears.
-
Download the backup gateway package and install it on your access node.
-
Install the access node and authenticate using the authcode provided in the instructions.
Note
-
By default, only those access nodes with both File System and MediaAgent packages installed are displayed.
-
If a client group is selected as an access node, ensure that each client in the group has connectivity to the array.
-
For streaming, CIFS backup using Linux access nodes is supported only with NetApp, Dell EMC Isilon/PowerScale, NutanixFiles, Qumulo, and Generic vendor types. For other vendors, ensure that a Windows access node is selected.
- Click the add button
