Configure SaaS applications for service providers

To configure SaaS application protection, Commvault service providers must add access nodes and create workload resource pools. For workloads that support Backup Plan with Unified Data Vault interface, you must also prepare a MediaAgent to receive data via S3 protocol. This setup allows tenant administrators to protect their SaaS application data without manual configuration of underlying resources.

Add access node

For details, see Adding an Access Node.

Prerequisites

  • Install the Cloud Apps package on each access node.

  • Deploy the access nodes in the same cloud region as the target metastore to avoid egress charges and help ensure backup jobs complete successfully.

  • Make sure that the access node is installed on the Linux x64 computer.

Create a workload resource pool

Create a workload resource pool for SaaS applications. For details, see Adding Workload Resource Pool.

When you create the workload resource pool:

  • For Solution type, select SaaS Apps.
  • For Access nodes, select the access nodes that have the Cloud Apps package installed.

Prepare MediaAgent for Unified Data Vault (DataVault-targeted workloads only)

For workloads that support Backup Plan with Unified Data Vault interface, prepare a MediaAgent to receive backup data via the S3 protocol before configuring protection. For details, see Prepare the MediaAgent to Receive Data via S3 Protocol.
