The Web Server plays a critical role in your CommCell environment by hosting the Command Center and other web-based services. By default, the Web Server is installed as part of the CommServe installation when IIS is enabled on the computer. Your CommCell environment can contain multiple Web Servers for high availability and load balancing purposes.
The Web Server uses a MongoDB instance for storing operational data. Currently, a single MongoDB instance on the designated default Web Server handles all data storage for the CommCell environment. This centralized architecture includes the following critical data:
-
Job History
-
Audit Logs
-
Web Server configuration data
To maintain availability and ensure business continuity, you should:
-
Know which Web Server is currently designated as the default.
-
Prepare to change the default Web Server in both planned and unplanned situations.
-
Understand data movement requirements when transitioning between Web Servers.
-
Regularly check the status of all Web Servers in your CommCell environment.
