Before you configure Hitachi VSP One Object Storage as S3-compatible storage, prepare the storage environment and create the credentials that Commvault uses to access the S3 endpoint.
Requirements
Complete the following tasks before you configure the storage.
- Verify cluster health.
Confirm that all Hitachi VSP One Object Storage cluster nodes are healthy, connected, and operating normally with no reported errors.
- Create a dedicated S3 user.
Create a dedicated S3 user for Commvault instead of using a shared or administrative account.
- Generate access credentials.
Generate an access key and secret key for the dedicated S3 user. Store these credentials securely because you'll need them when you configure the S3 storage.
- Validate network connectivity.
Verify that the S3 endpoint is reachable from every HyperScale Flex node that will access the storage.
Configure user permissions
Assign the required permissions to the dedicated S3 user before you configure the S3 storage.
The following group is available by default in Hitachi VSP One Object Storage:
- S3 Bucket Management
Assign the dedicated S3 user to the S3 Bucket Management group. Verify that the user inherits the required role before you continue with the storage configuration.
