Restore export-based backups in-place for an Amazon Redshift cluster

To restore Amazon Redshift export-based backups, follow these steps:

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Databases.

  2. On the Instances tab, from the list of Instances, select Cloud DB.

  3. In the Actions column for the instance, click the action button action_button, and then click Restore.

  4. Select the backup to restore:

    • To restore the most recent backup, in the upper-right corner of the page, select Show latest backup.

    • To restore a backup from a specific date and time, in the upper-right corner of the page, select Show backup as of a specific date, and then select the backup.

    • To restore a backup from a date range, in the upper-right corner of the page, select Show backup for a date range, and then select the backup.

  5. Click Restore.

    The Restore options dialog box appears.

  6. In the Target cluster identifier box, type the identifier of the cluster that will be created from the snapshot. The identifier must not already exist within the region.

  7. From the Database user credentials list, select the credentials that you configured for export-based backups.

  8. Under Advanced, do the following:

    • To define the subnet group, in the Subnet group box, type the subnet group name. Specifying a subnet group may limit the choice of availability zones.

    • In the KMS Key ARN box, enter the KMS encryption key.

    • To define which subnets and IP ranges the cluster or instance can use in the Amazon virtual private cloud (VPC), in the VPC security group IDs box, enter the names of the security group ID.

      You can add multiple security groups, separated by commas. For example, you can enter "sg-1122,sg-3344".

    • Optional: To associate IAM roles with the cluster, in Associated IAM roles, enter the role name, and then click Add.

  9. Optional: To receive an Email when the restore operation completes, select the When the job completes, notify me via email check box.

  10. You can configure a schedule to repeat this restore operation. To create a schedule, do the following:

    1. Click Schedule.

      The Add schedule dialog box appears.

    2. In the Name box, type a name for the schedule.

    3. Configure the Frequency and Repeat parameters.

    4. To specify exceptions to the schedule, click Exceptions.

      The Exceptions dialog box appears.

    5. Configure the exception parameters:

      • You can click Add Exception to save a set of exception parameters and continue adding sets of exception parameters.

      • Click Save when you have finished configuring the exception parameters.

    6. Under the Range of recurrence section, specify the Start date and End date to schedule the recurrence range of the restore operation.

    7. To save the schedule and return to the restore dialog box, click Schedule.

  11. Click Submit.

    The Confirm restore dialog box appears.

  12. Click Yes.
