You can restore the entire backed up instance from a database group to either the same instance or a different instance on the source client. You can also restore the instance to a different destination server.
For full instance XtraBackup, the MySQL server is stopped. After the restore operation to the MySQL data directory is complete, the MySQL server is started. You can run a restore only from the database group level.

You must use the same path for the innodb_data_file_path and innodb_data_home_dir parameters in both the source and destination MySQL instances to ensure a successful restore operation.

If the No lock option is enabled with MySQL enterprise backup, use a data restore. Log restores are not recommended because binlogs are skipped when No lock is enabled.
