Mailbox Archive Solution Components in the Usage Calculation

Several components are covered by the Mailbox Archive Solution license, which appears in the License Summary Report under the information about Application Users. The software calculates license usage based only on the types of data that are included in the license. Certain user actions can increase or decrease license usage in the License Summary Report.

License Enforcement

For new CommServe computer installations of 11.19 and later, the software enforces the Mailbox Archive Solution license for the following component types:

  • Mailboxes protected by the following agents:

    • Exchange Mailbox (Classic)

    • Exchange Mailbox (OnePass)

  • SharePoint Office365 licensed site users

  • OneDrive for Business user accounts

Caution

If the number of any component types exceeds the purchased quantity by 110%, then the software blocks backup operations for all of the listed component types.

For CommServe computers that upgrade from previous feature releases, the software does not enforce the Mailbox Archive Solution license for these components.

Included Data

The following user components are included in the Mailbox Archive Solutions license:

  • All active, uniquely named mailboxes that are protected by the following agents:

    • Domino Mailbox Archiver Agent

    • Exchange Mailbox Archiver Agent

    • Exchange Mailbox Agent

    • Exchange Mailbox (Classic) Agent

      Note

      Includes all journaled mailboxes.

    • Exchange Mailbox Archiver Agent

    • Exchange Public Folder Agent

    • Exchange Public Folder Archiver Agent

      Note

      • Backup jobs for the Exchange Public Folder Agent and archive jobs for the Exchange Public Folder Archiver Agent do not consume this license.

      • Shared, resource, or room mailboxes do not consume the license.

    • OnePass for Exchange Mailbox (Classic)

  • Google: Counts all uniquely named Google accounts whose mail and drive data were included in Cloud Connector.

  • Office 365 user components: For specific information about Office 365 components, see Office 365 Components in the Usage Calculation.

Usage Increase

License usage can increase because of any of the following actions:

  • Adding new mailboxes to subclient content.

  • Enabling backup activity on the subclient with mailboxes as content.

Usage Decrease

License usage can be decreased by removing existing mailboxes from the subclient content.

Excluded Data

The following types of data are excluded from the usage calculation:

  • Case Manager clients

  • Subclients with disabled activity

  • Subclients with no storage policy

  • Disabled mailboxes

  • Mailboxes that are not licensed by Microsoft
