Restoring Exchange Mailbox Using Stub Rehydration

You can detect and replace stubs with restored messages in user mailboxes in all Exchange environment types.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Office 365 or Protect > Exchange.

    The Office 365 apps or the Exchange page appears.

  2. In the App name column, click the app that contains the item that you want to restore.

    The app page appears.

  3. On the Mailboxes tab, select the mailbox, click Restore, and then select Restore messages to detect and restore stubs at the folder level or select Restore mailbox to restore all stubs in a mailbox.

    The mailbox contents appear.

  4. You can restore all stubs in a mailbox or select stubs from a folder.

    • To restore all stubs in a mailbox, do the following:

      1. In the left pane, select the checkbox for the mailbox,

      2. Click the action Exporting Exchange Online Mailbox or Folders or Messages (1) button, select Restore.

    • To restore stubs in a folder or a sub-folder, do the following:

      1. In the left pane, expand the mailbox, and then click the folder or the sub-folder.

      2. Click the action Exporting Exchange Online Mailbox or Folders or Messages (1) button, select Restore.

      3. Click Restore.

    The Restore options dialog box appears, with options for restoring to the original location already selected.

  5. Under Advanced options, set additional restore options:

    • To restore data from stubs, select the check box for Stub Rehydration, and then select from the following options:

      • To replace all stubs in the mailbox with the actual data, select Recover Stubs.

      • To view reports, select Stub Reporting, and then select Mailbox level reporting or Email level reporting.

        The report includes a summary of information such as the folder name, number of stubs, message size, and scan status. The report can be located in the shared job result folder or the local job result folder of the access node machine. By default, the path is \\machinename\sharejobresultfolder\Jobresults\CV_jobResults2\2\restorejobid.

      • To replace stub recall link with a new link, select Update recall link.

  6. Click Submit.
