Clustering
If clustering is supported by the operating system, you can install the software on a cluster. For information about supported cluster types, see Support for Cluster Configuration.
Memory (RAM)
-
2 GB or more
-
An additional 1.5 GB for every 500,000 folders in the backup data
Net-Tools Package
On Red Hat Enterprise Linux/CentOS 7.1 computers, make sure to install the net-tools package.
PowerPC Processor
Commvault supports both of the 64-bit PowerPC architectures: ppc64 (or "big endian") and ppc64le (or "little endian").
Note
-
For operating systems versions that support the PowerPC architecture, refer to the supported operating systems table above.
-
Red Hat Enterprise Linux/CentOS 6.x with glibc 2.12.x on PowerPC architecture is not supported effective version 11. For more information about deprecated platforms, see End-of-Life, Deprecated and Extended Support - Platforms.
Schedule Jobs Using a Client Computer's Time Zone
The client computer has to be in one of the standard time zones recognized by the CommServe server. Otherwise, the CommServe server is not updated with the client computer's time zone and the jobs scheduled using the client computer's time zone might not run.
Miscellaneous
Use Commvault Driver Modules on a Linux Computer with UEFI Secure Boot Option Enabled
If the UEFI Secure Boot option is enabled on the Linux computer, Commvault keys must be enrolled in the MOK (Machine Owner Key) list stored in the UEFI NVRAM so that the kernel recognizes the signature of the Commvault driver modules. See Use Commvault Driver Modules on a Linux Computer with UEFI Secure Boot Option Enabled.
Supported Disks
Azure Ultra Disk Storage is supported.
What Is Backed Up
Regular files and directories, including the following, are backed up:
-
Files that have holes
-
Raw device files
-
Files that have advisory locks
-
A maximum path level of 10 symbolic links pointing to each raw device
-
Files that have names that contain non-ASCII characters, if the appropriate locales are set
-
Shares that have Macintosh file system data
-
Symbolic links that are browsed or manually added to the data contents
-
Files that have a file path or a file name that contains more than 1023 characters
Note
By default, files that have a mandatory lock are not backed up. To back up these files, see Configuring Backups for Locked Files.
