Adding a Mount Path

Updated

You can add a mount path to an existing disk library.

Note

  • In Feature Release 28 and earlier versions, you were allowed to configure more than one mount path on a path that is already used by another mount path in a library. However, this caused problems with storage space reporting, alerting and billing. From Feature Release 30, you cannot add a mount path on a path that is already used by another mount path in the library.

  • From Commvault 11 V19, the Commvault creates mount path using the following format: randomstring_date_time where rarndomstring is a random string, date is the date in mm.dd.yyyy and time is the time in hh.mm.

  • From Feature Release 30, the randomstring_date_time folder that is created under the file path of a mount path does not appear in CommCell Console.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand to Storage Resources | Libraries.

  2. Select and right-click the appropriate library, and then click Add Mount Path.

  3. In the Add Mount Path dialog box, select either Local Path or Network Path.

    • If you select Local Path, enter the file path of a mount path.

    • If you select Network Path, then from the Credential list, select an appropriate credential to access the mount path. To create a new credential, click the Create New button. For instructions about creating a credential, see Adding a Credential to Credential Manager.

In the Folder box, enter the mount path location.

  4. Click OK.

Note

If a library with multiple mount paths is associated with a Network Storage Pool, then adding a mount path will automatically share the associated MediaAgent with all the other existing mount paths by using the DataServer-IP.

For example, on a library lib1 there are 2 mount paths mp1 and mp2. On mp1, if you shared MediaAgent MA1, then MA1 will automatically get shared with mp2 using the Data Server IP transport type.

For information on adding a mount path using command line, see Add a Mount Path Using Command Line.
