Controlling the Behavior of the SnapDiff Feature

Updated

Use the bBackupFromSnapshotOnly additional setting to perform the back up operation from a snapshot.

You can use the SnapDiff feature on CIFS and NFS regular backups, on network share clients, for NetApp and Dell EMC Isilon/PowerScale clients.

You can control what happens in case of failure to create or access the snapshot. You can set the bBackupFromSnapshotOnly additional setting as follows:

  • If bBackupFromSnapshotOnly is set to 1 (true), then failure in creating or accessing the snapshot results in skipping the backup paths.

  • If bBackupFromSnapshotOnly is not set or set to 0, then failure in creating or accessing the snapshot results in accessing the live file path. For the Unix auto-mount operation, failure in creating or accessing the snapshot results in mounting the given backup path directly instead of mounting the snapshot’s path.
