You can require a passkey for browsing and restoring data on your computer. After you enable the passkey feature and create the passkey, share the passkey with the required computer users.
If your administrator also requires a passkey for performing browse and restore operations on your computer, your passkey takes precedence. Alternatively, if you have not enabled and created a passkey yet, then you can ignore the passkey created by your administrator and create your own passkey.
Before You Begin
-
You must be the client owner.
-
The Administrator must give you permissions to create a passkey.
Procedure
-
From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Laptops.
The Laptops page appears.
-
Click SETTINGS for the computer that requires a passkey.
-
Click the Configuration tab.
-
In the Passkey section, move the Require passkey for restores toggle to the right.
The Set passkey dialog box appears.
-
Enter a new passkey in the Passkey and Confirm passkey boxes, and then click Save.
The Confirm create passkey dialog box appears.
-
Click YES.
The passkey is set and the Authorize for restore toggle key appears in the Passkey section of the Configuration tab.
-
Optional: To enable a user to browse and restore backup data for 30 minutes (after passkey authorization), move the Authorize for restore toggle key to ON.
Results
When a user tries to restore data on your Laptop computer, the user must enter the passkey. If you selected Authorize for restore, then the user can continue to access and restore backup data for 30 minutes after passkey authorization.
