You can validate a mount path to calculate the throughputs of a mount path and to check the read and write operations. You can determine the read and write throughputs based on a sample block size, number of writer/ thread, file size and the file count. During the validation process, the system writes data temporarily on the mount path and reads data from the mount path. You can also check and update the status of the mount path in the CommCell Console.
Validating a mount path is useful when you want to determine the read and write throughputs.
Note
-
Validate mount path operation does not support MediaAgents using the following transport modes:
-
Fibre Channel (FC)
-
Internet SCSI (iSCSI)
-
Validate mount path operation performs validation in both Sequential and Random read/write modes.
-
You can run validate mount path operations only on version 11 MediaAgents.
Procedure
-
From the CommCell Browser, expand to Storage Resources > Libraries> Library.
-
Right-click the appropriate mount path, and then click Validate Mount Path.
The Validate Mount Path dialog box appears.
-
To check and update the status of the mount path, complete the following steps:
-
Select Check Status.
-
Click OK.
The Information dialog box appears.
-
Click OK.
The software verifies the status of the mount path, and then updates the status in the CommCell Console.
-
-
To view the throughput details of the mount path, complete the following steps:
-
Select Check Throughput.
-
Select the MediaAgent.
The default values for File Size(GB), Number of Writer/Thread, File block size(KB), and File Count are pre-populated. To change the default values, select a value from the drop down list, or type a value.
Note
The following are the default values:
-
File Size: 2GB
-
Number of Writer/Thread: 1
-
File block size: 64KB
-
File Count: 10
-
-
Click OK.
You can track the progress of the validation job from the Job Controller. On successful validation of the mount path, the software displays the throughput details in a pop-up window.
