Getting Started with Exchange Database

Getting started with Exchange Database includes completing the Databases service catalog and performing a test backup and restore.

Complete the Databases Service Catalog

To add the first database in your Command Center environment, use the Databases service catalog. In the Command Center, go to Service Catalog> Exchange.

To complete the service catalog, you need the following information:

  • The server name

  • The host name

  • The credentials that you use to access the server

  • The packages that you want to install, such as Oracle

    Note

If you are configuring a database that uses a pseudoclient, you must manually install the packages on the physical servers before you use the service catalog. For more information, see Adding a New Server.

Prepare for a Test Backup and Restore

  1. Configure a storage target.

  2. Create a server plan.

  3. Create an Exchange DAG client.

  4. Assign content to the default subclient.

  5. Configure manual or automatic selection of the backup source for the default subclient.

Perform a Test Backup and Restore

Create User-Defined Subclients

To back up specific databases, or for content that you need to back up on a separate schedule, create user-defined subclients.
