You can perform on-demand backups for a single instance or for all the instances in a VM group.
Considerations

To restore a GCP instance that was turned off during a backup, you must assign that instance an external IP address using the GCP portal.

To back up GCP instance disks that are encrypted with a customer-managed encryption key, all instances (and access nodes) must be upgraded to Feature Release 24 (LTS) or a more recent version.
Procedure

From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Virtualization.
The Virtual machines page appears.

Go to the instance or VM group that you want to back up:

To back up an instance, on the Virtual machines tab, in the row for the instance, click the action button , and then select Back up.

To back up all the instances in a VM group, on the VM groups tab, in the row for the VM group, click the action button , and then select Back up.
The Backup options dialog box appears.

For Backup type, select the type of backup to perform.

If you are backing up a single instance, for Retention, to specify a custom retention period for the backup, do the following:
By default, the retention period is inherited from the plan. The Retention setting is not available for VM groups.

Click the edit button .
The Edit retention settings dialog box appears.

Select Retention period, and then specify the amount of time to retain the backup for.

Click Save.

Click Submit to start the backup.
