Enabling Block-Level Backups for File System Agent From the Command Center

You can configure your subclient to run block-level backups for the Windows and UNIX file system agent from the Command Center.

Before You Begin

  • For Windows File System Agent, MediaAgent package and VSS Provider package must be installed on the client computer to perform block-level backups.

  • For UNIX File System Agent, MediaAgent package must be installed on the client computer to perform block-level backups.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > File servers.

    The Overview page appears.

  2. Go to the File servers tab, and then click the file server where you want to perform block-level backups.

    The file servers properties page appears.

  3. On the Subclients tab, click the subclient for which you want to enable block-level backups.

    The subclient properties page appears.

  4. In the Block level backup section, do the following:

    1. Move the Block level backup toggle key to the right.

    2. To index files after the backup job completes, move the Index files after backup toggle key to the right.

    3. To choose a different access node to run the file indexing job, click Edit, and then select an access node.

  5. For Windows clients, if you have not installed the block filter driver already, you can choose to install the block filter driver now.

  6. In the Edit block level backup dialog box, you can choose to reboot now or to reboot later, and then click Save.

  7. To not install the block filter driver, move the Install block filter driver toggle key to the left.

    If the block filter driver is not installed, all block level backups run as full backups.
