Commvault protects instances that are hosted in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Private Cloud Appliance (PCA).
You can configure an OCI hypervisor to represent an OCI Private Cloud Appliance (PCA).
Key Features
-
Back up instances.
-
Restore guest files and folders and full instances.
-
Replicate instances for disaster recovery, with orchestration for failovers and failbacks.
Limitations
-
User interface (UI) limitation:
-
The Out of Place Restore UI may take longer to load lists of networks and subnets, since search query support is not available.
-
iSCSI attachments to the access node are not supported. By default, only attachments with paravirtualized mode are used.
-
-
Full VM restore limitation:
- PCA does not support AddImageShapeCompatibilityEntry. Therefore, if an image associated with the source instance is deleted, the restore will fail.
Procedure
-
Using the procedure in Adding an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Hypervisor, configure an OCI hypervisor to represent an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Private Cloud Appliance (PCA).
In Step 6 of that procedure, the Oracle PCA X9 device will be detected by two dots (..) present in the region name returned by Instance Metadata Service (IMDS) on the access node. The region name should be same as the FQDN of the applicance. FQDN will be used as an endpoint for accessing OCI REST APIs.
Note
If the built-in logic to detect the Oracle PCA X9 device does not work as expected, you can override the access node behavior by modifying the bOCIPCAX9Override additional setting.
