How are Multiple DR Backup Jobs Managed?

Updated

Disaster Recovery Backups consists of copy operations in the following phases:

Hence, DR Backup jobs are managed as follows:

  • A maximum of 3 DR backup jobs – 2 Full Backups and 1 Differential Backup – can remain active at any given time.

Subsequent Full or Differential DR Backup jobs will fail to start with a message stating that a 'job is already running'.

  • When a job is in phase 1, the subsequent job will be queued and will be in the 'waiting' state.

Once the first job completes Phase 1 and moves to Phase 2, the second job will be started.

  • As only one job is allowed to be in Phase 1, the job creates a folder named 'DR' under the following folder:

    <software_installation_folder>\Base\CommservDR

After the completion of Phase 1, the folder is renamed as <DR_JobID>, so that the second job can again create a 'DR' folder to continue the same process.
