Controlling the Ports for IBM i or OpenVMS File System Clients

Ports are assigned to the dynamically created network connection between the access node server and an IBM i or OpenVMS client. You can control the range of ports and limit the number of ports opened through the firewall for IBM i or OpenVMS clients.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers, right-click the access node or the client group, click Properties.

The Client Computer Properties dialog box appears.

  2. Click Network.

The Network Properties dialog box appears.

  3. On the Network Route Configuration tab, select the Configure Network Route Settings check box, and then click Advanced.

  4. To acknowledge the warning and continue, click OK.

  5. On the Incoming Ports tab, in the Additional Open Ports area, specify the range of ports using the From and To boxes.

The ports must be within the range of 1024 to 65000. The ports that you define cannot be used by other applications.

  6. Click Add.

  7. On the Options tab, enable Bind all services to open ports only.

  8. Click OK.

  9. Push the network configuration on the client.
