To restore multiple instances or VMs simultaneously, you can configure replication jobs to distribute the workload (instances or VMs) across multiple access nodes that are assigned to the destination hypervisor.
You can configure distributed workloads either in the recovery target or in a replication group created from a VM group by selecting the Automatic option for the Access node setting. The ability to distribute workloads is available for replication both from streaming backups or IntelliSnap backup copies.
Access Node Assignment
Access node assignment depends on the hypervisor:
| Hypervisor | Access node assignment |
|---|---|
| Amazon EC2 | The instances are assigned to the access nodes by a region match. Select access nodes based on the transport mode you use. |
| Azure Virtual Machines | First, the instances or VMs are assigned to the access nodes by a region match. If access nodes are not available in the same region, then the instances or VMs are assigned using the round-robin method. |
| Google Compute Engine | First, the instances are assigned to the access nodes by a zone match. If access nodes are not available in the same zone, then the instances are assigned to access nodes in the same region. If there is no zone or region match, the access nodes are assigned using the round-robin method. |
| VMware vCenter | First, the VMs are assigned to the access nodes by a host match. If access nodes are not available in the same host, then the VMs are assigned to access nodes in the same data center. If there is no host or data center match, then VMs are assigned using the round-robin method. |
Replication Operation Assignment
The following table explains how replication operations are assigned to access nodes, based on the distributed workload setting, the location of the operation, and the type of operation performed.
